Lizard? Or toad?

People call this a “horny toad,” even though it’s a lizard. Even Wikipedia’s confused about it.

What’s undisputed? They do push-ups to stay cool, and this guy let me get within a foot for a photo.

    Hi Kristy –

Read your blog this morning, kept the fractious-this-morning twins wide-eyed & quiet [THANK YOU!] šŸ˜‰

Your trek sounds as if you’ve gotten off to a good start – kudos!

  2. Keep on posting I am loving to watch your adventure unfold! The first Thing I did when I moved to OR was get the map out to look at the route,

  3. I loved finding these animals on my 2005 thru-hike–sometimes you can get them to crawl into your hands. My funniest story is when we came around a corner and found two of them making love–human-style, face-to-face, right in the middle of the PCT! They split up and ran away immediately, completely embarrassed. I was a little embarrassed, too.

Glad to hear that all is well. Thanks for sharing the Horney Toad photos. I haven’t seen one in ages. I used to catch them in the 50’s when I was a kid growing up in Long Beach. Keep on living the dream and posting your adventure. Your amazing!!!!
